We rarely associate artistic strategies with scientific research related to Lake Balaton. Yet, in the BALATORIUM ecological and cultural project, artists and researchers worked together in research laboratories, archives and the Balaton Uplands landscape. The event will focus on the synergies inherent in this research work: how an artist-in-residence programme can foster the work of a research institution, and what kind of specific considerations shaped research collaborations while creating particular artworks.
Three stations will offer the opportunity to talk to the artists, to get hands-on with the test tubes and thus to gain insight into the research and creative processes at work. Key themes that the stations will explore include science and fiction, visualisation, mutuality, site specificity and curiosity.
Participants: szabadonbalaton (Diana Berecz) , Fuzzy Earth collective (Tekla Gedeon & Basti Gschanes), artist duo Kitti Gosztola & Bence György Pálinkás, artist duo Marie Ouazzani & Nicolas Carrier
The event will be in Hungarian, and interpretation assistance will be provided at the foreign artists' stations. Between 15:30 and 16:30 the stations are free to explore individually.
